New Delhi: Veteran Indian politician and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad had to be hospitalised in Kuwait on Tuesday. The chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) was part of the all-party delegation that visited Kuwait to brief both leaders and citizens of the country on Operation Sindoor.
BJP MP Baijayant Panda, who is leading the delegation, posted on X that the 76-year-old leader is stable and under medical supervision. He also shared Azad’s photographs with his post.
“Halfway into our delegation’s tour, Shri @ghulamnazad has had to be admitted to hospital. He is stable, under medical supervision, and will be undergoing some tests and procedures. His contributions to the meetings in Bahrain and Kuwait were highly impactful, and he is disappointed at being bedridden. We will deeply miss his presence in Saudi Arabia and Algeria,” Baijayant Panda posted.
At a meeting in Kuwait earlier, Azad, who was chosen to be a part of the multi-party delegations meant to shore up allies across the world, slammed Pakistan for the spread of disinformation which increased tensions with India.
“Pakistan spreads a lot of disinformation. It is their habit. So, in the meetings that were held today a lot of questions and answers took place. I think the disinformation which they used to hear has all been done away with. So, it was a really good program,” Azad said later.
He also said that the delegation had succeeded in driving home the point that India stands unified against terror.
“We told them about our country and how we live together with love – Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians. Political parties do debate in Parliament but when it is a question of the country, we stand united, both inside and outside the country,” he added.
