Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday detained Revenue Inspector ( RI) of Gandanali Revenue Circle in Dhenkanal’s Hindol Tehsil, Sashi Bhusan Behera, for demanding Rs 60,000 bribe.
According to vigilance sources, he had demanded illegal gratification from a person to process applications and to furnish favourable reports in four mutation cases. Behera had refused to initiate the process and demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000 for each case. Another person, Bishnu Ballav Khatua, was also nabbed while accepting the bribe money on behalf of Behera in his office chamber.
The entire bribe money was recovered and seized from them.
Simultaneous searches are currently on at three locations linked to Behera to ascertain whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate[ to his known sources of income.
A case has been registered under Section 7 of PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, against them and further investigation is underway, the sources added.
