Berhampur: A girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging in a ladies hostel in Anant Nagar under BN Pur police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Tuesday.
As per sources, a 22-year-old girl was a video call with her boyfriend on Chocolate Day of Valentine’s Week when the girl expressed her wish to commit suicide for some reason. She took the extreme step through video call from her mobile phone.
The boy immediately rushed to the hostel with some of his friends after listening to her but by the time they reached her room, she had already hanged herself. She was taken to MKCG Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead.
The girl from Tikabali in Kandhamal district was studying computers in a private organisation in Berhampur city and her boyfriend was working as a supervisor in a private organisation.
Meanwhile, police have detained the 25-year-old boyfriend and investigating is on.
