Balasore/Keonjhar: In a tragic incident, two persons were killed and three injured when lightning struck at Raeswarpur Diha under Silang police limits in Balasore district on Wednesday.
The deceased persons have been identified as Baburam Singh and Basudev Jena.
According to sources, the deceased had gone to a jetty to repair a diesel machine. The incident occurred when they were returning home at around 4.30 pm.
They were rushed to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital. But doctors declared them dead.
In another incident, a groom died and the bride was critically injured by lightning at Tangiripala village under Anandapur block in Keonjhar district on the same day.
The incident took place at around 5 pm.
The couple and three others sustained critical injuries.
They were rushed to the Anandpur sub-divisional hospital, where the groom died.
The deceased has been identified as Jitendra Murmu. The bride and other three are undergoing treatment.
