Baripada: In a daring daylight robbery, gun-toting miscreants allegedly looted over Rs nine lakh cash from Kuchei branch of Odisha Gramya Bank in Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday.
As per information, around six robbers barged into the bank located under the jurisdiction of Kuliana police station in the afternoon. Brandishing firearms, the miscreants held the bank staff at gunpoint and looted cash from the counters before fleeing.
Following the incident, a police team visited the bank and launched an investigation. They were examining the CCTV footage and recording statements of bank staff.
Eastern Range DIG Satyajit Naik and Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police Varun Guntupalli also visited the bank and took stock of the situation.
A thorough probe is in progress and efforts are on to identify and apprehend the robbers, police said.
