Hyderabad: In a bizarre incident, a woman software engineer in Hyderabad stripped, entered a temple, grabbed the idol and jumped into a pond.
While the woman’s body has been fished out, a search is on for the idol. The police are now trying to find out if the idol of Goddess Ammavaru holds any clue to the strange behaviour of the woman.
As per preliminary investigation, the woman, identified as Tejaswini, died by suicide. The police, however, maintain that several aspects of the case remain unclear, prompting a detailed investigation into her final movements and state of mind.
A major search operation is now underway for the idol, with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) pitching in with boats and personnel.
The recovery of the idol is crucial as it may provide vital clues, officials have said, as reported by News18.
The police have questioned Tejaswini’s mother Aruna and are examining what they describe as an alleged death declaration left behind by the software engineer. Investigators are also reviewing her financial records, phone activity and movements in the days preceding her death.
It has now been found that Tejaswini had been staying in a rented flat where she was allegedly paying around Rs 3,500 per day, amounting to nearly Rs 1 lakh per month in rent.
The top two floors of the building were allegedly being operated in the manner of a lodge, investigators have come to know. Authorities are examining whether the property or its occupants have any connection to the events leading up to her death.
The police have not arrived at any conclusions regarding the woman’s strange behaviour and officers are currently analysing CCTV footage, witness accounts and forensic evidence to establish a clear timeline of events.
All angles are being examined, authorities have said.
