Cuttack: The Orissa high court has given the state government a ‘last chance’ to bring a clear policy regarding installation of different statues on the premises of schools.
Earlier, the court had sought a clear policy on the matter from the school and mass education department on September 14, last year, sources said.
However, the state counsel on January 5 this year informed that the draft policy has been prepared which will be finalised within two weeks and placed before the court with an affidavit before the next date on March 29.
But when the matter was taken up before the court on Wednesday, the state counsel sought more time from the HC.
Unhappy over the response, the bench of Chief Justice S Muralidhar and Justice Gourishankar Satapathy pointed out that despite adjournments sought and granted on September 14 and January 5 one more adjournment is sought by the state counsel for placing the finalised policy.
Stating that one last chance is granted, the court said that the finalised policy should be positively placed on record by next date on June 28.
