HC Disposes Of Actor Babushaan Mohanty’s Anticipatory Bail Plea

Cuttack: In a major development in the much-hyped actor Babushan Mohanty’s controversy, the Orissa High Court on Thursday disposed of his anticipatory bail plea, which had been filed on July 27 apprehending arrest in the case registered on basis of a complaint by his wife Trupti Satapathy.

Both the parties informed the court that Babushan is cooperating in the investigation, senior advocate Dharinidar Nayak told the media.

He further said that the Commissionerate Police had issued a notice under Section 41A of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which has been signed by the actor.  Section 41A of CrPC is the notice of appearance before a police officer in all cases, where the arrest of a person is not required.

On July 23, Trupti had allegedly manhandled Prakruti and Babushan while they were going to the airport in a car to catch a flight to Chennai. She accused Prakruti of ‘spoiling her marital life’ and supplying Babushaan with marijuana. On the basis of her complaint, police had registered the case against Prakruti under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC while Section 498A (harassment by husband and relatives) was slapped on Babushaan.
