Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued heavy rainfall warning in most parts of south and interior Odisha in next 24 hours under the influence of a low-pressure.
In a mid-day bulletin, the IMD said a cyclonic circulation over the Gangetic West Bengal and neighbourhood is most likely to turn into a low-pressure area over the west-central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast around September 13.
The low-pressure is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in the south and interior districts with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places. Besides, there may be moderate rainfall and thundershower in the coastal and northern districts which will continue till August 14.
In view of the heavy rainfall and thundershower, IMD has issued yellow warning for the following districts:
August 10
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Balangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over Kalahandi, Balangir, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Koraput and Malkangiri.
August 11
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Keonjhar.
August 12
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Kalahandi.
August 13
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur.
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal and Rayagada.
August 14
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Koraput.
