Bhubaneswar: The sky in Bhubaneswar looked menacing before it was hit by thunderstorm and rain on Friday morning.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange warning of moderate thunderstorm, lightning with surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and moderate rain for some parts of Khurda, including state capital Bhubaneswar, till 1 pm.

Similar warning has also been sounded for Puri district.
Under its impact, minor damage to loose/unsecured structures, banana trees and standing crop may occure in these districts.
Light to moderate thunderstorm with gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph, lightning and light to moderate rain may also affect some parts of Jagatsinghpur within next 3 hours.
People in these 3 districts have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
