Hi-Tech Authorities Clear Stand On Student’s Suicide
Bhubaneswar: In a distressing turn to the death of Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital student Nihar Ranjan Rout, the authorities of the educational institution said they suspect that he committed suicide over poor results and attendance.
At a media conference called by the college authorities after Nihar’s family pointed an accusing finger at them for their ward’s death, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the institution Bhisma Rath said, “College fees amounting to Rs 8 lakh was pending on the student and his family was also informed about the same. So, it is suspected that he might have taken the extreme step after being frustrated with his results and having failed to pay the dues.”
However, investigation into the matter is on.
The student was found hanging inside his hostel room on Saturday night. His family members had lodged a complaint at Mancheswar police station alleging that he has been murdered. They claimed that the medical student was under tremendous pressure as the college authorities had been asking him to pay money to compensate for poor marks he had secured in the examinations.
