Bhubaneswar: In the wake of Pahalgam terror attack, security measures have been tightened in railway stations in important places, including Bhubaneswar. These railway stations have also been put on high alert to ensure the safety of passengers and railway staff and prevent any untoward incident.
As part of the special security arrangements, personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) held a flag march and carried out thorough checking operations at the Bhubaneswar Railway Station on Monday.
The RPF officials also urged passengers to inform if they come across any suspicious person or baggage at the platforms, a senior official said.
While passengers are being subjected to thorough checks to prevent any potential threat, RPF teams have been asked to remain extra vigilant, scrutinising luggage and monitoring passenger movements using advanced surveillance systems.
Additional security personnel have been deployed at entry and exit points, platforms, and parking areas to maintain a strict vigil. “We are keeping a close vigil to ensure safety and security of passengers and others.. Movement of people is being closely monitored,” said an official.
Passengers have been requested to cooperate with security personnel during checks and to immediately report any unattended baggage or suspicious behaviour. Authorities have also issued advisories urging passengers to arrive early at the station to accommodate the additional time required for security screening.
Most passengers have expressed their support, acknowledging that the steps are necessary for public safety.
