Highest Single-Day Spike Of 179 COVID-19 Cases In Odisha’s Kandhamal, Tally Surges Past 1K

Phulbani: The COVID-19 tally in Odisha’s Kandhamal district touched 1141 on Thursday with a record 179 positive cases being reported in the last 24 hours.

According to Kandhamal administration, 156 are from the containment zone while 19 are local contact cases. Three among them are COVID warriors and the remaining one detected from a Temporary Medical Centre (TMC).

The highest of 33 cases have been reported from Tumudibandh, followed by 32 from Baliguda, 26 from Kotagarh, 21 from Daringbadi, 17 from Tikabali, 16 from G Udayagiri, 14 from Phulbani, seven each from Chakapad and Phiringa, five from Raikia and One from K. Nuagaon, the tweet added.

The last 24 hours saw one more COVID-19 death in the district when a 61-year-old male, who was also suffering from diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease and old cerebrovascular accident, succumbed to the virus.

With six deaths and 733 recoveries, Kandhamal now has 402 active cases.
