A day after Bajaj unveiled its first electric scooter in form of its popular ‘Chetak’ brand, a scoop on Team-BHP revealed that the scooter is likely to be priced around Rs 1.1 lakh.
At this price, the Chetak will be slightly cheaper than the Ather 450, its direct competitor in India. While Bajaj hasn’t revealed the price, it has said that it will be “attractive”.
To recap, the Bajaj Chetak electric will have a maximum range of 95 km. The lithium battery will be IP67-rated. It can be charged from standard 5-15 amp sockets. Bajaj will provide home charging stations at nominal costs as well.
To keep up with the retro appeal, Bajaj has used metal body panels instead of fibre or plastic. There is also a glove box with a modern soft-close touch. Other retro-modern elements include horseshoe-shaped LED headlight with DRLs. It will come in six colours, including the classic ivory and gold.
The console will feature feather-touch activated electronic switches.
Like other EVs, it will also have regenerative braking, a system that recovers braking energy and recharges the battery. It will also have connected tech for security and other purposes, which can also be accessed via a mobile app.
