Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome among COVID-19 patients is being studied, discussed, and threadbare analysed by scientists, of late.

It was first noticed among children and younger people, and was named MIS-C (multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children). Clinically, these patients are below the age of 21 years. Later, the syndrome was found among adults too, so it was named MIS-A (multisystem inflammatory syndrome in adults), India Today reported.

MIS-C went unnoticed for months since a large number of children and young adults are said to be reporting no respiratory symptoms identified with COVID-19.

Now, researchers in America have found symptoms related to COVID-19 and include fever, rashes on the body, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting are among the early signs of MIS-C caused by coronavirus infection.

MIS-C caused by COVID-19 develops into severe inflammation in a few hours. The patient requires admission into ICU. According to a study by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a majority of young people below 21, died due to MIS-C.

Another report that talked about MIS-A in detail said COVID-19 patients have developed serious illnesses without showing severe respiratory symptoms. These illnesses show “cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, dermatologic, and neurologic symptoms”.
