Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police here is inching closer to establishing the identity of the woman whose beheaded body was found on Daspur-Andharua road under Chandaka police limits last Thursday (February 4).
According to sources, her identity is being ascertained through digitized fingerprints collected to match with the database of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
Bhubaneswar police are expected to issue a statement in this regard soon.

On Wednesday, Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash told the media that this effort would show results if the NCRB has the details of the victim.

On February 6, police had released the identification details of the woman and announced Rs 50,000 cash reward for any information on her. Two helpline numbers 8280338323 and 8280338296 have been issued for this purpose.
While a five-member special team led by a senior officer in the rank of Additional SP is investigating the incident, the photo of the victim is being circulated in several areas of the city for any clue in the case.
