IMD Forecasts Thunderstorm In 11 Districts Of Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm and lightning are likely in 11 districts of the state in next 24 hours, a bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast on Friday.
The IMD issued a yellow warning for Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Boudh, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Rayagada districts where thunderstorm and lightning are likely.
It also forecast that light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely at a few places in the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and at one or two places in the rest districts.
“The trough now runs from the above cyclonic circulation over East Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh to Nagaland across Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Assam and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. The cyclonic circulation lies over East Madhya Pradesh & adjoining Chhattisgarh and extends upto 1.5 km above mean sea level,” said the bulletin.
In the past 24 hours, light rainfall has occurred at one or two places in the districts of Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur and Kandhamal.
There was an appreciable rise in minimum temperature at many places in North Interior Odisha and at one or two places in South Interior Odisha.
The highest maximum temperature of 37 degree Celsius was recorded at Balangir and the lowest minimum temperature of 16.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Phulbani, the Met office said.
