IMD Issues Thunderstorm, Rainfall Warning For These Odisha Districts For Next 5 Days

Bhubaneswar: The regional Meteorological Centre in the city has issued yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning for next five days for several parts of Odisha.

In the next 24 hours, the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Cuttack and Sundargarh are likely to witness thunderstorm and lightning.

A cyclonic circulation now lay over east-central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, the Meteorological Centre in the city said on Friday morning. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region during the next 12 hours, the Met Centre said.

The changing weather condition is set to bring more rain in several parts of the state.

From the morning of September 25 to 26, the IMD has also forecast thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput and Rayagada.

Heavy rainfall has also been predicted over the districts of Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri and Jagatsinghpur.

Similarly, from morning of September 26 to 27, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda,
Ganjam, Gajapati and Kandhamal.

Heavy rainfall is likely in the districts of Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Nayagarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Boudh, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Bhadrak during the same period.

From morning of September 27 to 28, similar conditions will prevail in the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Sonepur, Kandhamal and Boudh.

The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall from the morning of September 28 to 29 over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri,
Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Balangir.

The fishermen have been advised not to venture into deep sea areas of West-central adjoining north Bay of Bengal during September 25 -26, also along and off Odisha coast, West Central Bay of Bengal adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal during September 26 to 27. Thos in deep sea have been advised to return to the coast by September 25 evening.
