Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday left Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital, for last leg of his 3-nation tour to Europe. He will meet newly elected President of France in Paris to wrap up his visit.

Modi started the tour with Germany and then to Denmark. He received a warm welcome from the enthusiastic Indian diaspora in Berlin and held his first-ever meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister shared highlights from his stay in Denmark and said he had productive talks with Prime Minister Frederiksen, a business summit to discuss economic linkages, a vibrant community programme to further people-to-people linkages.

During his meeting with Denmark’s royal family, Modi gave away gifts taken from different parts of India to the members of the royal family. Here are the gifts presented during the meeting:

The Prime Minister gifted a silver Meenakari Bird figure from Varanasi to Crown Princess of Denmark, Mary. The art of silver enameling practiced in Benaras (Varanasi) is almost 500 years old. The art has its roots in Persian art of Meenakari.

Modi presented a Rogan painting from Gujarat to Queen Margrethe II. Rogan painting is art of cloth printing practised in Kutch, Gujarat. In this craft, paint is made from boiled oil and vegetable dyes and applied on fabric with a metal block (printing) or a stylus (painting).

For Crown Prince Fredrik, the PM had a Dokra boat from Chattisgarh. Dokra is non–ferrous metal casting using the lost-wax casting technique. This sort of metal casting has been used in India for over 4,000 years and is still used, according to reports of ANI.
