Jammu: Pakistan, hit hard by Operation Sindoor and subsequent neutralisation of its air defence system in Lahore, went ballistic on Thursday evening and launched an all-out attack in several parts of northern and western India.
Jammu was their biggest target, with the airport also being hit.
According to reports, Indian air defence units intercepted and shot down eight missiles and at least three fighter jets – one F-16 and two JF-17 — launched from Pakistan.
In the north, Pakistan missiles and drones were aimed at four key sectors in Jammu — Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia. It resembled Hamas’ style missile attack on Israel.
No casualty or major damage has been reported yet.
“Military Stations of Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur in proximity to the International Boundary, in Jammu & Kashmir targeted by Pakistan using missiles and drones. No losses. Threat neutralised by Indian Armed Forces as per SoP with kinetic & non-kinetic means,” Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff posted on X.
Residents in the targeted areas reported loud explosions but confirmed that no impact occurred on the ground. There were blackouts in several cities.
“Today evening after 8:20 pm, we have witnessed around 50-60 air attacks over Jammu, Udhampur, Rajouri, Pathankot, Samba, and Akhnoor. All these attacks have been neutralised and made ineffective. Compliments to the impregnable air defence system… There is no report of any damage despite such a massive attack by Pakistan. It appears to be a full-fledged war by Pakistan and a befitting reply needs to be given by our three services. Pakistan’s days are numbered… Pakistan will soon be divided into five parts…,” former J&K DGP SP Vaid told ANI.
