New Delhi: Union Jal Shakti minister CR Paatil said on Friday that India wouldn’t allow a “single drop” of water to flow into Pakistan.
Among several diplomatic steps against Pakistan following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty.
“We will ensure that not a single drop of water flows into Pakistan from India,” stated Paatil after attending a meeting chaired by Home minister Amit Shah to discuss future course of action on the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 with Pakistan. Shah made several suggestions to ensure the effective implementation of the Central government’s decision.
“The Modi government’s historic decision on the Indus Waters Treaty is lawful and in national interest. We will ensure that not a single drop of Indus water flows into Pakistan,” Paatil posted on X.
He said India has sent a “strong message” to Pakistan that it will not tolerate terrorism at all.
As many as 26 innocent civilians were killed by armed terrorists at the picturesque Baisaran valley. India have blamed Pakistan as The Resistance Front, which has claimed responsibility for the attack, is backed by UN-designated terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.
