New Delhi: A COVID Management Cell under an officer of Director General rank has been established which reports to the Vice Chief of Army Staff.
The idea is to ensure proper coordination of multiple facets in the Army’s COVID response at the national level.
The Army has been playing a major role in the country’s fight against the deadly pandemic. Besides ensuring own force preservation, medical care to veterans and their dependents, the Army has also deployed considerable medical resources to assist civil authorities at the five COVID hospitals. These hospitals are already functional or in the process of being established at Delhi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Varanasi and Patna.
