New Delhi: With an overnight surge of 75,829 COVID-19 cases, India’s affected tally crossed the 65-lakh mark to stand at 65,49,373 on Sunday.
Also, 940 people across the country succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday. The fresh deaths took the toll to 1,01,782.
Meanwhile, India’s recovery rate stood at 84.13 per cent, the highest in the world. The fatality rate, on the other hand, was 1.55 per cent.
Besides, 55,09,966 people have recovered from the infection so far with 82,260 being discharged on Saturday. Another 14.32 per cent (9,37,625) are still under treatment.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 7,89,92,534 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, including 11,42,131 on Saturday.
