India’s COVID Tally Crosses 1.3 Lakh With 6767 New Patients; Sikkim Reports First Case
New Delhi: The coronavirus outbreak in the country infected 1,31,868 people so far. In the last 24 hours, 6,767 fresh cases have been reported which is the highest single-day spike till now, according to the data available on the Health Ministry’s website till 8 am on Sunday.
Across the country, Maharashtra is leading the COVID-19 tally with 47,190 cases. It is followed by Tamil Nadu (15,512), Gujarat (13,664), and Delhi (12,910), the ministry reported.
Meanwhile, Sikkim which was corona-free till now, reported its first case after a 25-year-old student who returned from Delhi tested positive for the virus.
Despite the rapid increase in infections, India’s recovery rate improved to 41.28 per cent with 54,440 cured/discharged patients. Besides, corona linked deaths have increased to 3,867 following 147 fresh deaths reported in the last 24 hours, it added.
