International Meet On ‘Advanced Materials & Applications’ Concludes At SOA In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: An international conference on “Advanced Materials and Applications”, focused on material science and technology and organised by the department of Physics of the Institute of Technical Education and Research
(ITER), faculty of engineering of SOA Deemed to be University in Bhubaneswar, concluded on Saturday.
The subjects covered in the conference included catalysis, spintronics, solar energy, magnetic memory devices, nanopatterning and biomechanics.
Prof Karunakar Nanda, Director of Institute of Physics in Bhubaneswar, who was the chief guest at the inaugural function held on Thursday, spoke on the subject ‘maximising the utilisation of catalytic centres for energy applications.’
SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof Ashok Kumar Mahapatra and Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Pradipta Kumar Nanda also addressed the inaugural programme. Prof S Kamilla and Prof VRR Medicherla, convenor and co-convenor respectively of the conference, spoke on the importance of materials in day-to-day life including those required in medical science.
The subject experts who addressed different sessions included Prof William Holderbaum from University of Reading, UK; Prof SD Mahanti from Michigan State University, USA; Prof VV Srinivasu and Prof SC Ray from UNISA, South Africa and Dr Archana Mishra, Mag Top, Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences for Theoretical Research, Poland.
Experts from UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research, Indore; Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar; NISER, Bhubaneswar and Sri Venkateswar University, Tirupati also addressed the conference. PhD scholars and masters students made 86 poster presentations besides four oral presentations.
