Hyderabad: It was a bizarre, and somewhat scary sight.
A man who appeared to be heavily inebriated was seen riding – believe it or not — a camel on Hyderabad’s PV Narasimha Rao Expressway!
Commuters on the busy elevated road, which connects the airport to Mehdipatnam area in west Hyderabad, watched in amusement and shock as the camel galloped down the expressway with the man barely managing to keep a grip on the reins.
The video, which went viral on social media platforms, shows the visibly drunk rider swaying dangerously as the camel ran close to the edge of the road.
The incident was recorded and shared on Instagram by Ikram Ullah Shah, who himself decided to chase down the camel.
As he shouted at the man while driving alongside the camel, Shah also alerted nearby vehicles to keep their distance. At one point, Shah even splashed water at the rider from a bottle to bring him to his senses. To Shah’s horror, the man collapsed and seemed to pass out even as the camel continued running close to the vehicles.
Shah and his friend finally succeeded in slowing the animal down and securing it to a streetlight, even as the handler dangled off its back.

Netizens hailed Shah and his friend as “heroes” for averting a potentially tragedy on the busy expressway.
“In a world where many choose to look away, this one person chose courage! Saved countless lives and prevented accidents! Humanity needs more people like you who act when it matters the most. Truly commendable,” expressed one user.
“You guys saved his life and major accidents, hats off. Nowadays, life is so unpredictable,” wrote another person.
