Bhubaneswar: Two minor boys from Odisha, who had been rescued in a critical condition after a tourist vehicle plunged into Teesta River in Sikkim on May 29, were brought to Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
The Two, identified as Sairaj Jena (17) and Supreet Nayak (16), reached the Odisha capital by train. Sairaj happens to be the younger son of BJP leader Itishree Jena, who was among those missing after the mishap.
Soon after their arrival at Bhubaneswar Railway Station, the two were shifted to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar in a special ambulance for further treatment.
It may be noted that four tourists from Odisha, including BJP leader Itishree Jena (42) and her elder son Sahil Jena (20), went missing after the vehicle fell into the river in Sikkim.
Itishree’s younger son Sairaj and Supreet were rescued from the spot in a critical condition. They were undergoing treatment at a hospital in Sikkim.
As per the direction of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena made necessary arrangements for evacuating the two minor boys from Sikkim.
Earlier, the Odisha government had deputed two officials to coordinate with the local authorities in Sikkim for the rescue operation and proper treatment of the injured.
