IPL-15 To Be Held In One State, 2 Cities; Check Out The Details

Mumbai: The 15th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) will be staged in one state and two cities.

The T20 league, which will feature 10 teams from this year including new franchises Lucknow Super Giants and Ahmedabad Titans, will get underway on March 26.

Mumbai will host a lion’s share of the games (55), while Pune’s MCA Stadium will stage the remaining 15 matches.

The matches in Mumbai will be spread over three venues — Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium.

BCCI’s IPL governing council took the decision to organize this year’s IPL in one state during a virtual meeting on Thursday evening.

The officials did discuss organizing the matches at the respective home venues, but decided against it. Last year, the IPL had to be called off mid-way in India because of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic. The rest of the tournament was played in the UAE in October-November 2021.
