Mumbai: A team of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Forest department officials arrived at superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s palatial residence Mannat for inspection.
Following a complaint by activist Santosh Daundkar, the officials checked if there were any violations in the ongoing construction work at Mannat, The Times of India reported.
As the actor and his family have temporarily relocated to a nearby apartment in Pali Hill, the inspection team was met by his staff.
The officials were assured that all necessary renovation permits and related documents would be submitted.
Denying any illegal activity in the renovation work, Shah Rukh’s manager Pooja Dadlani told TOI, “There are no complaints. All work is going on as per guidelines.”
“A team did carry out a site inspection as we received a complaint about renovation permissions. A report will be prepared based on the findings and submitted soon,” ToI quoted a Forest department official as saying.
Mannat was originally a heritage building, Villa Vienna. In 2005, a seven-storeyed annex was built, claimed former IPS officer Y P Singh.
“To bypass the Urban Land Ceiling Act, 12 small flats were approved, but later merged into one luxury residence for Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan,” alleged Singh.
He further said that the owners of Mannat must now restore the 12 flats to uphold the law.
