Bambolim (Goa): Conceding two early goals hurt Odisha FC as they went down 1-2 to Chennaiyin FC in an ISL-7 clash at GMC Stadium here on Wednesday evening.

Esmael Goncalves drew first blood for Chennaiyin after 15 minutes. He struck again six minutes later when he converted a penalty to push Odisha FC to the back foot.

Prolific Brazilian Diego Mauricio scored his fifth goal of the season in the 63rd minute to raise hopes of a second-half comeback. But despite creating some opportunities, the equalizer remained elusive for Odisha FC.

This was the two teams’ second meeting in three days, having played out a goalless draw on Sunday.

Odisha FC thus remained at the bottom of the table with 6 points from 11 matches.

Chennaiyin FC, with 14 points from 11 games, moved up from eighth to fifth place in the 11-team league.
