ITBP Jawans Come To The Rescue Of Pregnant Woman
Malkangiri: The Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) turned messiah for a pregnant woman in labour and carried her 7 km on shoulder, braving the landmines planted by Maoists.
The incident was reported from Kondagoan village in the neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
The ITBP jawans of 41 Battalion camp, while conducting a combing operation in the forests along Odisha-Chhatisgarh border on Friday morning, received information about a pregnant tribal woman, identified as Rukmani Baghel, being in labour pain.
Since there was no transportation facilities in the area, the jawans rushed to woman’s help. They carried her 7 km on a handmade stretcher to the ITBP camp.
The woman delivered a baby boy there with the help of a doctor on duty at the camp.
Since the condition of both mother and child was critical, they also took them to the district hospital in their own ambulance for better treatment.
