New Delhi: Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has finally been traced.
According to a report by The Indian Express, the former VP has limited himself to his Delhi residence, where his daughter Kamna Vajpayee visits him almost every day from Gurugram.
It has been reported that the 74-year-old Dhankhar spends most of his time watching OTT, playing indoor games and doing Yoga. He starts his mornings with Yoga with his trainer and mostly plays table tennis in the sports complex attached to the Vice President’s enclave in the evening.
His choice of OTT shows include The Lincoln Lawyer and House of Cards, an aide told the newspaper.
As for his wife Sudesh Dhankhar, she has been visiting Rajasthan frequently. This is to supervise the construction of two commercial complexes on their ancestral land near Jaipur Airport. Both buildings are intended for rentals.
There was a lot of speculation after Dhankhar abruptly resigned as Vice President on the very first day of the Monsoon session. His resignation letter to the President mentioned “health concerns”. Since then, the former VP has largely stayed away from the public eye, reportedly not responding to calls or messages.
The Opposition, particularly the Congress made his “disappearance” a political issue and claimed a conspiracy behind his sudden exit. Some leaders also dropped hints that he may be under house arrest.
Congress MP said “there is more than meets the eye” while introducing the INDI Alliance VP pick, B Sudershan Reddy.
“There is a big story about why he (Dhankhar) resigned… And then there’s a story about why he is in hiding… Suddenly, the person who used to burst forth in the Rajya Sabha has gone… completely silent,” Gandhi had said.
Union Home minister Amit Shah has insisted that Dhankhar resigned on health grounds and people should not “stretch” it. He put an end to “house arrest” speculations, too.
“He has resigned due to personal health problems. One should not try to stretch it too much and find something,” Shah said recently.
