Bhubaneswar: The All India Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main II entrance test paper-I for B.E. and B.Tech, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), began across the country on Monday.

The test will be held on April 8, 9, 10 and 12 in two sittings (9.30 am-12.30 pm and 2.30 pm-5.30 pm).

The Paper-II test, for B.Arch and B.Planning, was conducted on Sunday. Sources in the NTA said that while about 9.34 lakh students across the country (including 33,000 students from Odisha), had registered their names for JEE Main held from January 8 to 12 this year, nearly 70 per cent have registered for JEE Main II.

The NTA had decided to conduct JEE Main-II to give another opportunity to aspirants who could not qualify JEE Main-I. Those who cleared JEE Main-I can also register to try and improve their scores. However, it is not compulsory for candidates to appear for the examination twice. The better of the two scores will be considered for students and on the basis of their performance, about 2.40 lakh students will qualify to take admission into premiere technical institutes like the IITs and NITs.

NTA had rescheduled the JEE Main II in view of the Lok Sabha elections. The test was earlier scheduled from April 7 to 20.
