Jharaphula Death: Police Find Missing Scooter In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Nine days after Jharaphula Nayak, a Plus III student of Rama Devi Women’s University, was found dead on a roadside in Jajpur district, investigators found the scooter used to carry her body at Sundarpada in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
Notably, Jharaphula’s boyfriend Rakesh Nayak and his friend had allegedly carried the deceased student’s body on this scooter and dumped it on the roadside near Mulapala Chhak in Jajpur district on January 27.
According to police sources, Jharaphula had died while staying at the OYO Shiv Sai Guesthouse at Dharma Vihar in the capital city in the night on January 26.
Police later got the whereabouts of Rakesh and arrested him from Sundarpada.
Kuakhia Police of Jajpur district took Rakesh on a three-day remand on January 2 and took him to Mulapala for a crime scene reconstruction. The police also took him to Bhubaneswar and reconstructed the scene at the OYO guesthouse where he had spent the night with the 21-year-old student.
Police are yet to divulge the details of their investigation to the media. However, sources revealed that they were searching for Rakesh’s friend, who has been absconding since January 27.
