London: ‘Death in Bollywood’, an investigative series on actress Jiah Khan’s mysterious demise, has been released by the BBC.
The three-part documentary, aired on the first three days of this week, is currently available for viewing in the UK only, The Quint reported.
Jiah, who made her debut in Ram Gopal Varma’s 2007 Nishabd featuring Amitabh Bachchan and also worked with Aamir Khan in Ghajini, was found dead at her residence in Juhu in 2013.
The case was deemed as suicide by Mumbai Police and then by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) following an extensive investigation. But with Jiah’s mother sticking to her claim that she had been murdered by boyfriend and actor Sooraj Pancholi, a Mumbai court charged the latter with abetting suicide almost five years after the incident.
The case has not yet been closed.
In its review of the 58-minute first episode, The Telegraph has written: “The first episode of Death in Bollywood (BBC Two), a three-part investigation, presented the family’s case. It wasn’t clear if the remaining episodes will present alternative views. The Khans made compelling interviewees: Jiah’s mother and her sisters spoke eloquently about the pain of losing her.”
