Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will provide financial assistance to KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) beneficiaries on January 25.

Announcing this to the media after a review meeting presided over by the Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi at the State Secretariat here, principal secretary Sourabh Garg said that the money provided by the state government will be credited to the bank account of the beneficiaries.

In the first phase, 12-14 of 22 lakh beneficiaries will be provided financial assistance. The final list of the first-phase beneficiaries will be announced on January 22, he added.

Stating that the government has so far received about 66 lakh applications, Garg said these will be sent to the panchayat for verification following which the final list of beneficiaries will be announced.

In order to facilitate inclusion of all beneficiaries in the KALIA scheme, the government earlier had asked the farmers to apply through ‘Green Form’ by January 10. However, later the date was extended to January 15 for phase-I inclusion.

The scheme was launched on January 5 to help small and marginal farmers, agricultural household, vulnerable agricultural households, landless agriculture labourers and sharecroppers. It includes insurance cover for cultivators and landless agriculture labourers.
