Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC disappointed their fans at Kalinga Stadium here on Monday evening as they tripped at the first hurdle and bowed out of the Kalinga Super Cup 2025.
Looking to improve on their runners-up finish last year, Odisha FC slumped to a 0-3 defeat against bogey team Punjab FC.
Punjab FC, who advanced to a quarterfinal clash with FC Goa, were undefeated against Odisha FC in ISL. Punjab FC won one and drew the return match against Kalinga Warriors in ISL.
Punjab FC scored through Asmir Suljic after 14 minutes, and went into half-time with a slender lead.
Punjab doubled their advantage in the 69th minute when Pulga Vidal found the target. Nihal Sudeesh completed Odisha’s misery with a third goal in the final minute of regulation time.
FC Goa thumped Gokulam Kerala 3-0 in the day’s first round-of-16 match.
In the tournament opener on Sunday, defending champions East Bengal crashed out following a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Kerala Blasters.
