Keonjhar: Usually tree houses are found in foreign countries while in some states in India they are used for tourism and commercial purpose. But a private tree house in a lesser known village on the outskirts of Keonjhar town in Odisha has remained a star attraction for locals.
Chinmay Samal, a local businessman in Keonjhar town and owner of the tree house, said he had a long-cherished dream to stay in a tree house since his childhood days. “I was in search of a big tree and an ideal location to build a tree house. To my good luck, I noticed a huge sal tree on my plot in Naranpur village on the outskirts of Kenojhar town. After consulting architects, the trunk and branches of the sal tree were found suitable for a tree house. Without waiting any further, I began construction of the tree house by constructing the base of the house with wooden beams by fastening it with nuts in the six outer branches of the tree. After the basement of the house was ready, it took less time to construct the remaining portion of the house,” Samal said.
The house has two bedrooms, a kitchen with an attached bathroom and air conditioners. Besides, it has three balconies from the roof of which small flower vases are hung. The drawing room is beautifully arranged.
