Khurda & Cuttack Account For 55% Of New COVID Infections In Odisha; Active Cases Drop Below 6K

Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload in Odisha remained below 500 for the third consecutive day on Wednesday as 457 more people, including 73 children below 18 years of age, tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

A total of 428 people were found infected with the deadly virus on Tuesday and 471 on Monday.

According to the I & PR department, 265 of the new infections are from quarantine and 192 local contacts.

Of these, Khurda district with 207 new cases and Cuttack (44) accounted for 54.92 per cent of the caseload in the state. Four districts reported nil cases.

Odisha now has 5,948 active cases while the COVID-19 tally in the state has touched 1,017,718.
