Mumbai: Celebrity couple Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra welcomed their first child, a daughter, in July.
Soon after Kiara became a mom, an old statement of hers about Kareena Kapoor resurfaced on social media.
Sharing a picture of Kareena and Kiara, a social media page named Bolly Masala wrote, “Kiara Advani wants her daughter to have Kareena Kapoor’s qualities. She and Sidharth recently welcomed a baby girl.”
Kiara was upset, and called out the social media page for linking her old statement to her newborn daughter.
“This was said during the promotions of our film Good Newwz. Kindly stop putting old interviews out of context,” Kiara commented.
Kiara’s reaction drew mixed reaction online.
A section of netizens lauded the actress for addressing the issue directly, but others felt her sharp reaction was unnecessary.
“I’m so glad someone called out such pages directly because most of the time they put things out of context and celebs get heat for no reason!” wrote one user.
Another person commented, “I wish all of them responded to these pages… trying to make a buck out of twisting people’s statements.”
One critic wrote, “Wow, that was rude though. Yikes! She could have easily ignored it since she did say that. Not like they made it up.”
During the promotions of ‘Good Newwz’ Kiara had expressed her desire to have two healthy babies.
When journalist Faridoon Shahryar asked Kiara which qualities of Kareena she would want her daughter to possess, the actress replied, “Her confidence, her expressions, her aura. All her qualities. She is a 10 on 10.”
On the work front, Kiara was recently seen in Ayan Mukerji’s ‘War 2’ along with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR.
She will next be seen in the Kannada movie ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups’, along with Yash. The film also features Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Achyut Kumar and Akshay Oberoi in key roles.
