Bhubaneswar: The 14th edition of ‘Kirti Kalpana 2026,’ the graduate fashion show of School of Fashion Technology, KIIT University, was inaugurated here on Wednesday.
In her speech at the inauguration ceremony, Mayor Sulochana Das said Bhubaneswar is rapidly emerging as a major fashion hub in eastern India.
She highlighted the capital city’s growing prominence, saying that Bhubaneswar has already transformed into a national centre for fashion.
The Mayor praised KIIT and KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta for bringing to the city prestigious events like the Femina Miss India 2026. The grand finale of the event will be held at the KIIT campus on April 18.
Natasha Grover, National Director and Brand & Operations Head of the Miss India organisation, expressed her delight at being part of the event.
Recalling her own graduation days, Grover said the occasion brought back fond memories. She noted that the experiences of 30 state winners of Miss India in Odisha have been deeply meaningful. “The moment you take people along with you, you have achieved success. Be honest — hard work always pays off,” she advised.
Delhi fashion designer Anuj Durga Sharma shared his insights with the students, urging them to innovate and uphold sustainability-driven design philosophies.
KIIT vice-chancellor Prof. Saranjit Singh encouraged students to pursue their aspirations with sincerity and purpose. “Whatever you want to be in life, ensure you are a true ambassador of KIIT and KISS and, above all, a good human being,” he said.
Guests, jury members and student achievers were felicitated on the occasion, followed by the launch of the event brochure. The function showcased creative collections by graduating students, reflecting innovation, craftsmanship, and contemporary design sensibilities.
