Know The Akshay Tritiya Ritual Schedule At Puri Jagannath Temple

Puri: Preparations for Rath Jatra in Puri will begin on Akshay Tritiya, which falls on May 7 this year. The 21-day Chandan Yatra will also kick-start the same day.

In Puri, construction of the chariots for the sibling deities will begin with Agyan Mala or garland of permission of Lord Jagannath. The ritual will be completed by 4 pm and chariot work begin in the evening, the meeting of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration decided on Thursday.

The ritual schedule is as follows:

  1. The main door of the temple will be opened at 3 am.
  2. Mangala Alati will be held at 4 am.
  3. Abakash Niti will be concluded by 5.30 am.
  4. Sakala Dhupa ritual will be held between 7.30 am and 9 am.
  5. Mailama and Jatrangi Snana rituals will be held at 10 am.
  6. Madhyanna Dhupa will be offered to the deities at 2.30 pm.
  7. Dwadasa Yatra ritual will be held at 3 pm
  8. The deities will be taken to Vimana at 3.30 pm.
  9. The Agyan Mala will be brought from Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra to Rath Khala at 4 pm.
  10. At the same time, the deities will be taken to Narendra pond for Chapakrida.
  11. Construction works of Rath will be started in the evening the same day.
  12. At 10 pm on Tuesday, the deities will brought back to the Jagannath Temple.
  13. At 12 pm that day, Bada Singhara Bhoda will be offered to the deities.
  14. Ratra Pahuda ritual will be held at 12.30
