Bhubaneswar: Law students have several career options if they pursue their studies seriously, Odisha’s minister for Law, Works and Excise Prithviraj Harichandan said on Saturday.
“Law has become a serious profession and students should meticulously plan their careers as they have the option of practising in courts or become judicial officers,” Harichandan said while speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the two-day ‘Lok Sambad’, a national level youth parliament organised by the SOA National Institute of Law (SNIL), faculty of legal studies of the SOA Deemed to be University.
Around 150 law students from Odisha, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Delhi took part in the event.
The minister opined that the legal profession had undergone a sea change over the years and students were presently pursuing super speciality courses in law. He said the Odisha government was recruiting students of law as Research Assistants to assist the administration.
SOA vice-chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda presided over the programme. Prof. SAK Azad, Dean of SNIL, and Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare), also addressed the audience.
Prizes were given to participants who excelled in different competitions.
