Bhubaneswar: A lawyer was allegedly assaulted by an undertrial prisoner inside the premises of District and Sessions Judge court here on Tuesday.
According to available information, the accused, identified as Jitendra Biswal, started abusing his own advocate and beat him up during the hearing of a rape case.
Following the incident, Badagada police caught hold of the accused and took him into the custody. He was later shifted to Jharpara Special Jail here.
Police have started investigation into the matter. The incident has caused resentment among the lawyers’ association members.
