Puri: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) began a thorough inspection of the leaking roof of Nata Mandap of Jagannath Temple here on Monday.
According to reports, the inspection is being carried out by a team of the ASI Technical Core Committee. Apart from examining the joints in the roof of the Nata Mandap and the Sanctum Sanctorum, the team will also inspect the steel box frame of the Jagmohan.
The inspection will continue for three days.
According to the schedule, two senior professors from the IITs of Chennai and Kharagpur will arrive here on Tuesday and will have a detailed discussion with the ASI Technical Core Committee members.
The leakage in the Nata Mandap was noticed during the Rath Yatra in July this year.
Meanwhile, the ASI on Monday submitted two affidavits in the Orissa High Court regarding the inspection of the Gundicha temple and the Mausi Maa temple and the commencement of the repair work of the six temples on the outer side (Bahara Bedha) of the Jagannath Temple.
The court directed the ASI to submit a status report on the progress of the repair work of these six temples during its next hearing on September 10.
