Berhampur: The Ganjam administration on Sunday squashed rumours about lockdown in the district amid the fear of COVID-19 resurgence.
“But we have to be alert and have to follow social distancing norms to avoid any COVID infection. If any symptoms then immediately inform the nearest health centre. Will test accordingly. No need to panic but be aware,” Collector & District Magistrate, Ganjam, tweeted.
On Saturday, Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange had issued a fresh Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), urging people to adhere to COVID-appropriate behaviour in view of an upsurge in new cases in some states, including Maharashtra, in the last few days.

Block-level officials and urban local bodies were directed to ensure strict implementation of the SOP in crowded places, including markets, religious institutions, public and private offices, transport services and roadside stalls. The government offices must ensure wearing of face mask by the employees, hand sanitisation at the entrance and social distancing, the SOP added.
