Bhubaneswar: The low pressure over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts is expected to trigger intense spell of rain in four districts of Odisha on Sunday.
The India Meteorological Department has issued red warning for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Balasore districts, which are also likely to experience thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph.
Very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur at one or two places in Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Bhadrak districts till Monday morning. There is also warning for heavy rain along with thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph for one or two places in Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Bargarh, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur , Nayagarh, Boudh, Khurda, Puri and Gajapati during this period.

Though intensity of rain may slightly decrease thereafter with the system moving slowly west-northwest-wards across North Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal & Jharkhand during the next 2 days, several places in the state are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rain till June 5.
“The low pressure is likely to trigger very heavy rains in parts of Odisha between Sunday and Tuesday. As the southwest monsoon is active over the state, heavy rainfall activity is expected to prevail all through the week,” said Director of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Manorama Mohanty.

Orange Warning: Very heavy rain and thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rain and thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely at one or two places in Bargarh, Balangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Nabarangpur and Boudh.

Orange Warning: Very heavy rain and thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rain and thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely at one or two places in Bargarh, Deogarh, Sonepur, Balangir, Nuapada, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rain may occur at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Sambalpur and Deogarh districts.
July 3
Orange Warning: Very heavy rain may occur at one or two places in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Yellow Warning: Heavy Rain is also likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Cuttack and Kendrapada.
July 4
Orange Warning: Very heavy rain may occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh.
Yellow Warning: Heavy Rain is also likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Bargarh.
July 5
Orange Warning: Very heavy rain may occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda.
Yellow Warning: Heavy Rain is also likely at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj.
The IMD further stated that there will be an increase in rainfall activity between July 6 and July 9.
