Bhubaneswar: The low pressure area formed over the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal became a well-marked on Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Several parts of Odisha are likely to experience light to moderate rain during Dussehra festival under its influence.

Under its influence, squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is likely on Sunday over the deep sea area of westcentral Bay of Bengal and 50 to 60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph on October 23 and 24 over west central adjoining north Bay of Bengal.

Squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 45-65 kmph is also likely along and off Odisha coast from October 24. The sea condition will be rough to very rough over these areas during above mentioned period.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into deep sea area of West central Bay of Bengal from Sunday, over west central Bay of Bengal from October 23 and along and off Odisha coast and north Bay of Bengal during October 24 to 26. Fishermen whoever in deep sea are advised to return to the coast by Sunday.

While no warning of heavy rain has been issued by the IMD for Odisha, several places in the state may receive light to moderate rain or thundershower under its impact on October 23 and 24 during Dussehra.

As per MeT forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at some places over coastal Odisha and at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts on October 23.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at many places over coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, and Dhenkanal and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha on October 24.
