Malaria raises its ugly head in Jajpur, Kalahandi villages
Bhawanipatna/Jajpur/Bhubaneswar: Malaria cases are pouring in from Kalahandi and Jajpur districts. Children in several remote areas, including Nagada, in Jajpur have been hospitalised after being tested positive for the vector-borne disease.
A three-months-old boy, Dudura Pradhan, of Talanagada village in the district, died while undergoing treatment at a local hospital. He was admitted to Jajpur Road hospital after being diagnosed with malaria. He succumbed on Tuesday.
In Kalahandi, as many as 36 people of Kutumali village are reportedly suffering from malaria and viral fever. A team of doctors visited the affected village and examined the patients. Blood samples of 16 persons have been sent for lab tests.
“No death has been reported due to malaria so far. The suspected malaria patients have been kept under close observation,” a medical officer said.
