Mamita Murder: Odisha Cong Seeks Movement Details Of Minister, Threatens To Take Out ‘Mamita Rath’

Bhubaneswar: The Congress on Thursday said it would roll out ‘Mamita Rath’ in the name of slain school teacher Mamita Meher in the state, if the government does not come out with movement details of Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra.

Speaking to media persons in New Delhi, senior Congress leader Bhakta Charan Das said the state government has been protecting the minister and not disclosing anything about him during the period from the date Mamita went missing till her body was found from the campus of Sunshine English Medium School at Mahaling in Kalahandi district.

The Congress leader alleged that he had sought information through RTI on the minister’s tour itinerary during the period from Kalahandi SP, but it was not complied with on the ground of security reasons.

He further said though the Congress has been demanding the details of Mishra’s association with the prime accused in the brutal murder case, Govind Sahu, neither the government nor the minister is forthcoming. On the other hand, Mishra has demanded the opposition parties clamouring for his scalp to furnish evidence about his involvement, he added.

Das warned that if the government fails to make Mishra’s movements from October 1 to 22 public, his party will take out ‘Mamita Rath’ to move across the state to mobilise public opinion for the minister’s resignation.
